Listing Summary

This position is located in the Cobb County Water System, System Maintenance Division. This position will be scheduled to work four 10-hour shifts a week, Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday. This position works shift rotations that include working days, nights, call-outs, standby, holidays, and weekends in any region assigned.

Salary: $13.08 - $20.94 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required;
• Previous experience in construction, infrastructure maintenance, or a related field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Essential Functions

Installs, maintains, repairs, and replaces water and sewer lines and related system components: locates manholes, service connections, valves and other utilities, assists with the installation of new sewer taps; clears debris from manholes, water and sewer lines, sewer stream crossings, easements, valve boxes, etc.; inspects and evaluates condition of systems; diagnoses leaks, blockages or other problems; excavates around water and sewer infrastructure; installs appropriate repair fittings; replaces service lines; performs confined space entries into permit required confined spaces as needed; cleans manholes and lines; and changes out sewer rings and lids on manholes, etc.

Gathers tools and equipment needed to complete work activities; picks up and transports materials, tools and supplies; cleans and washes equipment and tools; performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs as needed; and notifies supervisor of needed equipment replacements and repairs.
