Job Summary

The Parks Supervisor supervises and oversees the maintenance of landscaped areas at city facilities, roadways, parks, and the cemetery.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prioritizes, schedules, assigns, and monitors the work and use of equipment by parks maintenance personnel;
  • Responds to complaints from the general public regarding parks maintenance;
  • Coordinates and oversees maintenance of all parks division equipment;
  • Maintains key inventory for parks division equipment;
  • Performs routine inspection of equipment, including checking fluid and fuel levels, sharpening of blades, etc.;
  • Supervises and instructs employees on work methods, procedures, standards, and safety practices related to their assignments;
  • Operates a front-end loader, tractor, dozer, excavator, and or other equipment used to facilitate the work of the division;
  • Makes on-site inspections of work in progress;
  •  Responds after-hours as needed and may be placed in an on-call status;
  • Monitors parks and properties to detect necessary repairs and improvements, including landscaping, irrigation, fountains, etc.;
  • Prepares landscaping plans to implement improvements;
  • Identifies the need for appropriate chemical applications (fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Three (3) years of experience in a related field;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and 
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License;
  • Possess the Georgia Commercial/Restricted Use Pesticides License within 12 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications -

  • Certified ISA Arborist;
  • Georgia Commercial Driver’s License
