The City of McDonough is seeking to fill the contract, part-time position of Solicitor in the Court Department.
The Solicitor represents the City in all matters pertaining to quasi-criminal ordinance violations, misdemeanor offenses triable in municipal court, and such other duties as set forth under law.
The Solicitor is responsible for case review for potential offers in Plea Bargaining, presenting accusations, witness identification and prosecution during trial.
The Solicitor is a part-time contract position and the person appointed shall not practice law in the municipal court in another capacity.
Compensation for the Solicitor is set at 350.00 per session with court days typically containing a morning session and afternoon session.
The term of office for the Solicitor shall be four years.
The Solicitor shall be licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia, and shall have served a minimum of three years as an active member in good standing of the state bar.
The prosecuting attorney shall satisfactorily complete all required training for such office.
There are approximately 75 court days scheduled per calendar year.
