The City of Tifton is seeking qualified, high energy applicants for the position of Planning & Zoning Manager for a strong department that will support a growing community. The city is looking for an effective leader who is committed to a highly professional and progressive department with knowledge of best practices and experience in the profession. The candidate should possess the ability to effectively engage builders and contractors, along with building trust with the department employees and the community.
The Planning and Zoning Manager would provide leadership to the department in the absence of the Community Improvement Director. This department and position makes a huge impact to the economic growth of the community and provides a pathway to possible career advancement opportunities within the department. The department is staffed with two (2) building inspectors, two (2) Code Compliance Officers, and one (1) administrative/clerical position. This position is a vital team member to the Community Development Department and a major contributor to a growing and model community.
The ideal candidate would need to possess excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. This person would need to show commitment to partnering with staff and the community, with a background that demonstrates success in working with the community to engage partnerships.
