The City of Tybee Island is now accepting applications for the position of Payroll & Administrative Specialist.

Description of Duties:

This position under the direction of the Finance Director is to perform all payroll management functions, process all requests for proposal and related contracts, assist with the maintenance of current and accurate accounts receivables and revenue accounting records for all City of Tybee Island.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal, state, and government policies and procedures, Internal Revenue Service and Georgia Department of Revenue guidelines, and performing additional tasks as assigned. 

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proficient in processing payroll and preparing and filing federal and state payroll taxes, W-2 forms and managing a workers’ compensation audit.
  • Cashier related work experience
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and other office equipment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License
  • The ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels of management
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment

The successful candidate must:

  • Pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
  • Be capable of lifting frequently 30 or more pounds

Salary:  Starting $21.00 per hour depending on experience
