POSITION SUMMARY:

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region's success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region's collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information, and community involvement in collaborative partnerships.

The Atlanta Regional Commission is a nationally recognized leader in regional planning and collaboration that creates real community change. The ARC's flagship leadership development programs (LINK, Regional Leadership Institute, Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta, and Model Atlanta Regional Commission) are well-known nationally and serve to engage and mobilize leaders from high school to seasoned professionals to build a more substantial region through committed action. ARC's Alumni Engagement Network seeks to bring continuity and on-going regional engagement to these leaders beyond their leadership program/cohort participation.

 

The Program Analyst within the Community Development Group's Leadership Programs Section is part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of professionals managing the leadership programs mentioned above (LINK, RLI, MARC, and the Alumni Engagement Strategy). This team's work is to provide meaningful opportunities for leaders to grow in their understanding of regional issues and personal leadership skills. This position is responsible for delivering critical logistical and programmatic support to the LINK program, the Regional Leadership Institute, and the Alumni Engagement Network, all engaging mid-to high-level community leaders in the region. This position will also co-manage the Model Atlanta Regional Commission (MARC) program. One of the top regional youth leadership programs in the country, MARC challenges high school students to learn about shaping metro Atlanta, focusing on how they can positively impact the future of the region.

 

The ideal candidate will be a professional with skills and experience applicable to communications, event/program planning, leadership development programming, and community engagement. This individual will help plan and implement program logistics and prepare communication pieces, with a desire to support a variety of leadership programs and the regional planning and service provision work that comprises the work program of the ARC.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist and support a multidisciplinary, professional staff in the development and execution of multiple leadership programs, specifically LINK, RLI, MARC, and the Alumni Engagement Network;
  • Provide support for the Alumni Engagement Network, including assistance with researching program topics, creating, and posting on-going content to the online platform, coordinating a multidisciplinary team of staff to generate additional impactful content, assisting other staff in the development of programmatic activities, like webinars, forums, and small group discussions;
  • Provide logistical support to MARC, LINK, RLI, and Alumni Engagement Network programs, including supporting meetings through note-taking, scheduling, making meeting and travel arrangements, as well as planning and coordinating program and event logistics, under the guidance and direction of leadership programs administrator;
  • Assist with program development and planning for ARC's annual LINK trip and Regional Leadership Institute, including assistance researching and creating briefing books, coordinating details for programs, such as organizing session descriptions, speaker bios and headshots, setting up program app and webpage, and supporting logistical arrangements with hotels and venues for the trip;
  • Assists with the development of the curriculum for the Model Atlanta Regional Commission program and manages the multi-day sessions, including coordination of an interdisciplinary team of professionals to support and staff the MARC program;
  • Recruit and advertise the MARC program to a broad, diverse group of youth across metro Atlanta and select a class that represents that diversity;
  • Prepare and write program communications, like e-newsletters and online surveys; may assist with preparing presentations, reports, and other communication pieces;
  • At various points in time, travel may be required both in and outside of the ARC metro region; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Knowledge of and experience with some combination of communications, program/event planning, leadership development programming, and community engagement practice;
  • Knowledge and understanding of critical policies shaping metropolitan areas and a demonstrated desire to stay current on these issues;
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team to plan and execute coordinated events and/or programs;
  • Ability to communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing, to a broad range of audiences; ability to prepare and deliver visually appealing written reports, public presentations, and recommendations to a variety of audiences;
  • Ability to foster open communications with and among staff, facilitating two-way learning and sharing of resources;
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal staff, the ARC Board, and a broad range of active stakeholders, including youth and seasoned community leaders;
  • Proficiency with the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (equivalent combination acceptable): 

  • Bachelor's degree in communications; marketing; public affairs; public administration; public policy; city, regional or urban planning or related fields
  • One (1) year of experience in communications; event planning; leadership development; community engagement; or community development field

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in communications; marketing; public administration; public policy; city, regional or urban planning; or related fields
  • Strong and demonstrated communication and organizational skills and experience

ANNUAL SALARY RANGE: $49,441 - $84,049 (no SS deductions except for Medicare portion, approx. 1.45% of salary)
