The City of Thomson has an opening for a Utilities Director. The Utilities Director oversees the operations of the Natural Gas, Water Treatment and Distribution, and Wastewater Treatment and Distribution Departments providing service to 25,000 residents in Thomson and McDuffie County, GA. Also serves as Project Manager for multiple projects related to utilities infrastructure upgrades. Significant utilities operations and management experience required; engineering degree preferred, but experience weighs more heavily in hiring decision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or course of study related to the occupational fields preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) certification a plus.
  • More than five years of experience working in the field of public utilities, with at least half of those years in a supervisory position. ** Significant experience in public utilities management more important than a bachelor’s degree.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Salary for this position will be determined by experience and having the qualifications outlined in the job description.
