The City of Duluth, Georgia (pop. 30,000) is accepting applications for the position of EVENT ASSISTANT (Part-Time, no benefits) in the Economic Development & Marketing Office.
This position is responsible for providing support for city-sponsored events such as art week, concerts, movies, 3rd of July, New Year’s Eve, etc. Duties will include preparation and clean-up of city facilities and grounds; operating vehicles; operating audio-visual (AV) equipment; a great deal of customer service contacts; coordination with other staff assigned to the event, helping insure the safety and security of buildings and equipment; keeping a clean and safe workplace; and other duties as may be assigned.
This is a part-time job. Hours will vary week to week, month to month, and will be based on the number and type of events scheduled. There are no guaranteed hours per pay period. Most activities occur during evening hours and on weekends.
A High School diploma, state-issued GED, or equivalent is required. Additional post-secondary education is preferred. Previous work experience in event planning, event set-up duties, facility maintenance, or customer service is preferred. Must be able to work individually with only general supervision, and work with others involved in the events.
Pay is $20.13 per hour (Grade 17/Step 21).
