E-911 Communications Officer
Butts County is looking for a full-time E-911 Communication Officers. This position is responsible for responding to calls for services and dispatching support.
We are looking for a dependable, energetic person with well-developed customer service skills, who works with a minimum of supervision and exercises excellent independent judgment; speaks effectively and is attentive to detail.
Duties include but are not limited to: Answering, screening, categorizing and prioritizing calls received.
Responding to emergency calls; determining location and nature of emergency; dispatching appropriate emergency personnel in response to calls for service; communicating with field units; Dispatching non-emergency support including animal control and public works; Operating a variety of communications equipment including radio consoles, telephones, and computer systems; Maintaining detailed call and radio logs; Recording appropriate information in GCIC and NCIC databases; responding to requests for information and retrieving federal and state database information and messages; Conducting regular equipment and weather alert systems;
Minimum Training and Experience: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education, or a combination of education, experience and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years; Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.
