HIRING RANGE: $43,921.73 annually; with incentives
INCENTIVE PAY: Incentive pay Associates degree, Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree. Candidates with at least three years law enforcement experience that have current POST status may be eligible to enter at a tier 2 rate plus incentives.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Maintains law and order and protects life and property. Patrols assigned geographic area; receives and responds to dispatched calls; investigates and takes appropriate action on assigned calls; conducts security checks of businesses, parks, public building, industrial areas and residences; Issues citations and/or makes arrests for violations of laws including traffic violations and local ordinances; prepares incident and accident reports; attends and testifies in various levels of court, including Superior, State, Juvenile, Administrative and Municipal, on cases investigated or reports written; locate defendants and serves criminal warrants; assists with crowd control and security assignments at various public gatherings or incident scenes; reports hazardous conditions on public roadways and bridges; conducts surveillance. Duties to include but not limited to court, City Hall security and, transporting inmates to and from medical facilities; may serve as field training officer; works with public, civic organizations, etc. in conducting community activities.
• Age 21 or older
• High School Diploma; some college preferred
• Georgia P.O.S.T. Certified or Graduate of a Georgia Law Enforcement Academy preferred, but will consider sending otherwise highly qualified candidates to the police academy *
• In good standing with P.O.S.T. in all states of certification
• Georgia Driver’s License within 30 days of hire if you currently hold an out-of-state valid license
• Be physically and mentally able to perform the essential job functions as listed in the Job Description

Applicants should note that Georgia law provides that previous employers may make a claim for training expenses in accordance with O.C.G.A. 35-8-22. Applicants should consult this code section and determine if it applies to their specific situation. The City of College Park will not pay for the mandate training or any related expense of any applicant.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION: A rigid and thorough personal, work experience, and qualification background investigation is required, which includes: medical exam, physical agility exam, drug screening test, psychological tests (written or clinical), CVSA examination, verification of all credentials and qualifications (personal references, previous employment, POST status, education, training, etc.), and interviews.
