Listing Summary

The Burke County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Recreation Director.  This is a highly responsible administrative / supervisory position that will report to the County Manager and will be responsible overseeing the planning, developing, and directing of the County’s Parks and Recreation programs and facilities. 

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration, Business Administration, Sports Management or relevant area and considerable experience of a progressively responsible nature in organized local government recreational activities.
  • Experience sufficient to understand thoroughly the diverse objectives and functions of the department subunits in order to direct and coordinate work normally requiring three to five years of related experience
  • Considerable experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

The successful candidate must also possess an acceptable driving record and be able to pass a criminal background check and drug/alcohol screen.
