Financial Analyst II - Planning and Development


Listing Summary

The mission of Gwinnett County’s Department of Planning and Development is to plan, preserve, and build a healthy community through continuous engagement and superior customer care. The Department consists of the following divisions: Housing and Community Development, Code Enforcement, Administration, Planning, Development, and Building. 
The Financial Analyst in the Housing and Community Development Division is responsible for providing financial analysis and support for the team. The position makes a positive impact on Gwinnett County by supporting the team’s effort to promote affordable housing, home ownership, small businesses, and other community needs.  This position reports directly to the Division Director.
Other essential duties include:

  • Analyzing, compiling, calculating, reconciling, and validating a variety of financial data and information; researching and interpreting a variety of records, databases, and logs
  • Preparing, reviewing, analyzing, submitting, and interpreting a variety of reports, reconciliations, documents, communications, schedules, tables, and statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies
  • Providing support to the division by solving financial problems and reviewing internal controls
  • Resolving complex reconciliation and account analysis problems requiring in-depth research
  • Coordinating and participating in special projects related to financial activities
  • Participating and leading in developing and implementing financial procedures related to data accumulation, report, and archiving
  • Analyzing and monitoring records for compliance with financial, reporting, and legal requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Four years of professional level finance or accounting experience;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties listed above.
