Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission, a joint planning agency serving Liberty County and its 7 municipal governments, is looking for a Planner III (Senior Planner). The role of the Planner III (Senior Planner) is to provide professional support for long-range planning projects including comprehensive plan updates, ordinance amendments and zoning administration. This role requires working independently and as part of a team to address long-range planning issues that will involve research, analysis, plan review, and communications with a variety of stakeholders including government boards and agencies. This position also routinely provides information and technical assistance to the public.

Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission is located in Hinesville, Georgia, 40 miles southwest of Savannah. Hinesville and Liberty County are home to Fort Stewart Army Installation, home of the 23,000-soldier Third Infantry Division. Liberty County borders the Atlantic Ocean, with more than 20 miles of shoreline and almost 40,000 acres of saltwater marsh. The Liberty Consolidated Planning Commission offers planners the opportunity to practice in the areas of coastal management planning, environmental planning, transportation planning, urban land use planning, small town planning and rural planning.

JOB SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for providing support for the coordination of comprehensive plan updates, ordinance modifications, transportation planning and other long-range planning projects; offers assistance to applicants and the public; performs staff technical reviews and reports; furnishes updates as needed for various planning initiatives; attends meetings and participates on various committees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or closely related field; supplemented by six (6) years previous experience and/or training involving urban planning, local/regional land use, zoning, land development plan review, site plan review, transportation planning and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license. A Master's Degree in Urban Planning or closely related field and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is encouraged.

SALARY

The minimum starting salary for this position is $59,084 per year DOQ.
