FLSA STATUS: Exempt - Executive

CLASSIFICATION: Regular Non-Merit - Serves at the discretion of the Department Director.



Purpose of Job

The purpose of this job is to support strategic planning of compensation for all employees in work force planning, recruitment, retention and reward. This includes administration of compensation and classification programs, oversight of performance evaluation and merit pay programs, and the personal services budget for the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supervising assigned staff; developing, implementing, and monitoring budgets, programs, policies, and procedures; analyzing data, and research; preparing and presenting findings, recommendations, and reports; performing additional tasks as assigned.

Job Related Requirements

WORK SCHEDULE:  Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required. 

May be required to work on religious holidays. 

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others. 

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.


Bachelor's degree in Business/Public Administration, Human Resources Management, or related field with three years of experience in human resources administration, budgeting, compensation and classification, or payroll; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. 

Two years supervisory experience required. 

Must possess a current professional certification in the field of Human Resources which may include SHRM, IPMA, CCP, CPP, or similar certification. 

Must possess a valid driver's license.
