Listing Summary

 Through the Chain of Command to the Code Enforcement Supervisor or through the designee of the Chief of Police. Under direction of the Code Enforcement Supervisor this position is responsible for the inspection, enforcement, an administration of applying city ordinances to private property, conducting on-site inspections, and handling administrative details. Work involves making independent technical decisions enforcing codes and ordinances. Performs related tasks to include issuing warnings and citations, responding to inquiries and concerns regarding code enforcement issues, appearing in court, and preparing related documents and reports. 

 This position description covers the essential duties and general requirements for the following positions:

  • Code Enforcement Officer II
  • Code Enforcement Officer I

Licenses and Certifications Required: 

  • Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License. 
  • Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certified within three (3) months of hire. 

Code Enforcement Officer II

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire, certification as a Code Enforcement Officer issued by the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement (GACE) Level I. 
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within three (3) years of hire, certification as a Code Enforcement Officer issued by the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement (GACE) Level II. 

Code Enforcement Officer I

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire, certification as a Code Enforcement Officer issued by the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement (GACE) Level I.
