The City of College Park, GA is searching for a Public Works Director who is a strong leader and manager to effectively and efficiently run the Public Works Department. 

The City of College Park covers over 12 square miles with a population of 14,000 as of the 2020 census. The City's general fund budget in 2022 is $30M and all funds top out at over $131M.

The City employs over 400 people. There are 83 employees in Public Works. Public Works has several divisions: Administration, Highways and Streets, Buildings, Grounds and Parks, Sanitation, Water and Sewer, and Stormwater.

Sanitation and Water and Sewer are enterprise funds funded by customer charges, and the Stormwater Fund is a Utility Fund funded by a stormwater fee.

The budget for Public Works is $15,321,260 for FY 2022.  There are 85 miles of road to maintain in the city limits. In addition, the City maintains 42 traffic signals.  The water distribution system serves 2,880 accounts, has over 100 miles of water lines, and has a storage capacity of over 3.1 million gallons of water.  Public Works staff maintain 6 City Parks, 3 Recreation Centers, a Senior center, an Auditorium, a football field and many other City facilities.

n addition to day-to-day management of the City's various infrastructures, the Public Works Director is a key leadership team member and is responsible for executing the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The CIP adopted in the FY 2022 Budget includes $2.3 million worth of Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) projects.

Through the FY 22 budget process, the City merged buildings and grounds with parks maintenance and the Department now handles the maintenance, upkeep and improvements for city facilities and parks assets.

The City has maintenance responsibilities for 2 swimming pools, outdoor basketball courts, tennis courts, playgrounds and multi-use fields. In addition, the City also maintains several picnic areas and public spaces.

The Public Works Department staff is busy, and there is a need for collaboration amongst the different divisions as their work often intersects. In addition, the Public Works Director needs to establish and maintain a culture within the Department that puts the needs of the City first and inspires staff to take great pride in the assets they are in charge of.
