Listing Summary

The Milton Fire Rescue Department seeks applicants for Lateral Firefighter-Paramedics. The rapidly growing City of Milton is located in north Metro Atlanta and its 38 square mile response territory offers a mix of residential and business development, several smaller live-work-play community areas, and a large area of rolling pasture and countryside. The fire department has a budgeted staff of 64 highly trained and professional all-career firefighters assigned to prevention, training, support services, and operations. Among other specializations, the Department offers advanced life support to its citizens and automatic/mutual aid partners as well as a metro-leading Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue unit.   

Basic Job Duties

The responsibilities of Milton Firefighters include responding to fire, rescue, and medical emergency calls for protection of life and property; providing community services and public education; maintaining equipment, apparatus, and stations; and training to maintain certifications and improve fire, rescue, and EMS skills.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to maintain/obtain a Georgia Driver's License and pass a criminal background check are required. The ability to earn and/or maintain certification as a firefighter and Paramedic is required.

Required qualifications include certification as NPQ Firefighter 1 and 2, and Georgia Paramedic certification and minimum of 12 months previous experience and/or training involving firefighting and basic emergency medical care; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Out-of-state applicants will be required to pass the Georgia Firefighter Certification test to attain certification.

  • Base Salary beginning at $55,150
  • For Certified Paramedics, a $4,000 Sign-On Incentive of $2,000 is paid at the end of three months, and an additional $2,000 paid at the end of the probationary period (typically one year).
