Listing Summary

The purpose of this position is to prepare employees to perform the duties of a police officer with the City of Rincon. Police Recruits will be assigned to an approved State of Georgia Basic Law Enforcement Training Program at a regional academy. As a police recruit when assigned to the police academy you are required to meet the performance expectations of the academy to successfully graduate from the program. Your duties will include reporting on time for assignments, taking and successfully passing weekly tests, being responsible for care of assigned equipment and other duties, as assigned, related to this job performance.

Pay for this position is currently $19.00/hr.

You will be assigned to a 40-hour work week and will be paid bi-weekly 80 hours.

You will report to the Patrol Commander and will be supervised by personnel of the Recruitment/Training Division.

Upon successful graduation from the police academy, you will be sworn in as a full-time certified Police Officer, working a rotating twelve-hour shift, paid bi-weekly 86 hours. You will also be expected to successfully complete a minimum 12-week Field Training Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia

The City of Rincon is in Effingham County, GA. It is the largest municipality within the county and has a population of around 11,000 and growing. We are a department of 23 sworn officers and have specialized assignments to include K-9, School Resource Officer, and Criminal Investigations.
