Parks Maintenance Technician
Purpose of classification: perform maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping duties for the parks, athletic fields, and recreation facilities.
Minimum Qualifications
High school degree or GED supplemented by minimum one-year previous experience in landscape maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have or obtain within 6 months of employment a Certified Pool Operators Certification (CPO). Possess and maintain a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license
Essential Functions
Responsible for daily security inspections of all park sites and structures for safety issues and vandalism
Responsible for ensuring of the cleaning and disinfecting of park restrooms and ensuring toilet paper, paper towels, and soap are full in each facility
Responsible for ensuring the daily collection of trash, litter, and debris within the Parks Department facilities and trash receptacles are emptied into appropriate dumpsters
Responsible for ensuring sports fields and courts are in good working order
Responsible for checking and maintaining all park storage rooms
Responsible for checking and maintaining playgrounds and equipment, including making general repairs when needed
Responsible for performing general maintenance and repair work on all park facilities, including buildings, equipment, and structures
Responsible for preparing repair lists from inspections and purchasing appropriate supplies
Responsible for preparing sports fields and courts for games, including moving benches and bleachers, and ensuring concession stands are maintained and well stocked with appropriate snacks and drinks
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Splash Pads
Other duties as assigned
Pay rate: $14.05 per hour
