Site Development Inspector

Listing Summary

The City of Milton is looking for a highly qualified individual to serve as our Site Development Inspector.

This individual ensures compliance with the City's development regulations, municipal codes, zoning ordinance and State regulations by conducting inspections and site inspections to assess potential violations to the City's ordinances and codes. Attempts to resolve complaints and problems, monitors projects for compliance with soil erosion and sedimentation controls and monitors for stormwater and erosion problems. The Inspector may perform engineering services for the Community Development Department within his or her area of expertise.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspects project site work to ensure project compliance with the development regulations and other City codes and ordinances; places particular emphasis on insuring compliance with stormwater, soil erosion, landscaping, buffer, and tree protection regulations;
  • Ensures city, state, and federal code compliance by conducting site inspections; determines if corrective actions are taken; issues notice of violations and stop work orders;
  • Conducts final site inspections to certify certificates of occupancy;
  • Regularly monitors all established and on-going developments for violations to the City's zoning ordinance or other municipal codes;
  • Prepares reports and advises staff on major occurrences of noncompliance; assists in the formation of strategies for taking appropriate corrective actions;
  • Receives, evaluates, and investigates complaints received by citizens;
  • Performs site inspections for building permits, development permits and preliminary/final plat approvals;
  • Conducts site investigations, follows up on complaints and determines necessary corrective actions to bring code violations into compliance;
  • Prepares written correspondence with violations of ordinances, and thoroughly documents inspections and findings relating to assigned area of responsibility; and
  • Performs other related work as required;

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree or two years related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience to meet the required responsibilities. Whoever fills this role should have a Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1B Inspector certification or the ability to become certified within three months.

Salary:

Starting annual salary of $56,873 depending on qualifications, full-time, non-exempt, with excellent benefits.
