                           The Stewart County Board of Elections is accepting applications for the position of
                                                                          ELECTIONS SUPERVISOR
JOB SUMMARY:
Prepare for, conduct, and manage all elections held in Stewart County subject to oversight by the
Stewart County Board of Elections (“BOE”) and in accordance with all applicable law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Prepare for and conduct all primary, general, and special elections held in Stewart County
  • Process, evaluate, and report election results
  • Recruit and train precinct election officials
  • Supervise the processing of voter records
  • Keeps a full and true record of the proceedings of the BOE and its finances
  • File and preserve in the office of the BOE all orders, records, and reports pertaining to the administration of voter registrations and elections
  • Record and maintain the minutes of BOE meetings
  • Audit campaign finance reports
  • Receive and maintain custody of all books, papers, and property belonging to the BOE
  • Review all directives, advisories, memoranda, correspondence, and materials issued by the Secretary of State and take action as required by those communications
  • Supervise, instruct, and manage BOE employees
  • Develop a proposed annual budget for the BOE to review and approve prior to submission to the Stewart County Board of Commissioners, and monitor the board's budget and payroll relative to current year appropriations
  • Perform other duties in connection with the proper conduct of elections as the Secretary of State and board determine

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two (2) years related professional experience
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a professional certification as an Elections Official within six (6) months of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership position
  • Professional experience in elections, public administration, and/or local government

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Position requires employee to move office equipment, communication with others, and other physical activity common to an office environment. Moderate physical exertion is present because of some stooping and kneeling required. The employee will sit, and/or stand for long periods of time and may occasionally move boxes or objects up to 25 pounds. Must be able to perform tasks involving manual dexterity, such as the use of a computer. Work may at times require more than 8 hours per day or require irregular hours to perform the essential duties of the position. Employee must have reliable means of transportation because position will require travel between the BOE office and polling locations.
