Under general supervision, participates in the maintenance of the City’s wastewater collection system; operates and maintains a variety of motorized equipment and power/hand tools; and performs related duties as assigned.
Repair, maintain, install and clean sewer lines as assigned. Flush sewers; hook up hoses to hydrants; jet sewer lines; shovel and lift out sand, gravel, hazardous materials, and debris from manholes and catch basins. Assist in building and repairing catch basins; raise and lower manholes as required. Service and maintain assigned vehicles; load and unload required equipment and materials. Operate a variety of hand tools and equipment used in sewer work including jetting equipment, pumps, air blowers, tractors, and gas and metal detectors; operate a truck. Attend various safety and training meetings as required. Perform related duties as assigned. Responds to emergency calls at all hours.
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.p >
