POSITION SUMMARY: The essential function of the Code Compliance Inspector is to perform inspections of residential and commercial sites and buildings to ensure compliance with applicable zoning codes, conditions of zoning decisions, coordinate code compliance efforts within the Community Development Agency and to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Responsible for preparing reports, coordinating with other county agencies and/or other local governments, providing customer service, and researching case files and / or ordinances. The incumbent receives general supervision from department management.
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 2 years of experience in Planning and/ or Zoning; Code Enforcement; review of building or development plans, sign permits and/ or survey plats. Must possess or be able to complete a minimum of 16 hours of the curriculum required for the Georgia Association of Code Enforcement (GACE) Certification as a Code Enforcement Officer, OR be able to obtain the International Code Council (ICC) Certification as either a Property Maintenance/Housing Inspector or a Zoning Inspector, within 18 months from date of hire.
Salary: $48,000-52,000 with competitive benefits.
