Planner I, II, or III - MEP

Listing Summary

The Planner position is assigned to the Building Plan Review section within the Building Division. The position will be responsible for the review of commercial and multi-family projects located in unincorporated Gwinnett County to ensure compliance with mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes and other applicable regulations and ordinances in addition to discussing with design professionals and contractors the interpretation and compliance of codes and determining corrective actions.
 
The Planner II and Planner III roles will perform multiple aspects of the review process requiring more experience and skill in the review and approval of commercial and multi-family projects as well as supporting larger, more complex projects. The Planner III will act as the primary back-up to the Building Plan Review Manager, may supervise staff, assist in formulating policies and procedures, and perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
 
Minimum Qualifications for Planner I: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or ICC Certifications.
  • One Year of related experience.
  • And/or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above.

Grade C41(1)

Minimum Qualifications for Planner II: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or ICC Certifications.
  • Two Years of related experience.
  • And/or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above.

Grade C42(1) 

Minimum Qualifications for Planner III: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning, ICC Certifications.
  • Two years of lead worker experience.
  • Four years of plan review or design experience.
  • And/or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job as those listed above.
