COUNTY MANAGER VACANCY

Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 depending on qualifications

The Macon County Commission is currently accepting applications for the County Manager position.  Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

POSITION SUMMARY

The County Manager is employed at the pleasure of the Commission to serve as the chief administrative officer of the county and is thus the liaison between the Commission and the department heads, constitutional officers, and other offices responsible for local government services within the guidelines of the Macon County Ordinances, policies, and procedures, and applicable State and Federal laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The County Manager directs the county’s organizational, operational, management, budget, and administrative operations and activities by providing oversight for all department heads and county offices.  The manager plans, directs, and controls the operations and activities of all county employees who report to and through this position.

The relationship of the position with the Commission is defined by the County Manager Ordinance.  This Ordinance may be reviewed on the county website: www.maconcountyga.gov 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree with at least five years’ relevant experience in a related occupational field sufficient to perform the principal duties and responsibilities of the position successfully.

Prefer a Master’s degree with at least three years ‘experience in a related occupational field sufficient to perform the principal duties and responsibilities of the position successfully.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Proven skills in personnel management, administration, infrastructure planning and improvement, innovative problem solving, financial management, grant writing and administration processes, and interpersonal skills.
