Firefighter/First Responder
Work involves combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires; responding to emergency medical calls, rescue operations, and a variety of non-emergency calls to protect lives and property. Work also involves custodial maintenance of fire station equipment, firefighting apparatus, rescue vehicles, and quarters.
Qualifications
Possession of, or ability to obtain, National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Firefighter I & II Certification, National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) Hazmat Awareness & Operations and National Registry Emergency Medical Responder Certification during a 12-week recruit school. Must meet the requirements for State Certification through the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council within 12 months of hire date. High school diploma or GED issued by an accredited institution. Possession of, or ability to readily obtain, a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Ability to meet the current minimum requirements for firefighters operating in the State of Georgia as set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training Council Rules and Regulations.
