The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a Full-Time Staff Accountant in the Finance Department.
The purpose of this job is to be responsible for assisting with the operational functions relating to general accounting. The staff accountant responsibilities include providing timely and accurate preparation, calculation and reconciliation of various departmental processes. This position will be assisting in day-to day accounting processes such as general ledger maintenance and financial reporting as well year end audit preparation and annual budget preparation.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Assist with monthly journal entries and expenditure analysis.
Perform account reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
Assist with development of the annual budget and forecasting activities.
Provide support and analysis for the annual audit.
Support the Finance Director and Assistant Finance Director with special projects.
Provide support for processing payroll including data entry and payment processing.
Punctuality and attendance are essential.
Performs other related duties as required.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to adapt to change while maintaining a positive attitude.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with one or more years working experience preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
