Southern Georgia Regional Commission is accepting applications for the position of Planner 1. Duties include providing professional and technical assistance to member local governments in comprehensive planning, local development regulations, transportation (primarily bicycle and pedestrian) planning, and other specialized land use and resources planning activities. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary for this position as the applicant will be working with local governments on updating and writing long-range planning documents. A bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Geographic Information Science, Public Administration, Political Science, or related field is preferred. A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience and/or training in planning; long-range planning; or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job. Microsoft Office skills and the ability to compose and edit documents is preferred. Full-time in office position M-F 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with excellent benefits in Valdosta. Competitive Salary DOE/Q.
