The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Transportation Manager in the Community Development Department. The Transportation Manager serves the public through conceptualization, planning, developing and operating programs that respond to and influence the demand of the market while improving business and community support for the Liberty Transit System. The responsibilities of this position include supervising the administration, operation, maintenance, and promotion of the transit system to provide a safe, efficient, and accessible transportation service.

MAJOR DUTIES: 

  • Develops and implements transit plan, including capital and operating program, and system administration; Assesses customer and facility needs; Recommends improvements; Reviews requests for transit service; Maintains compliance with Americans with Disability Act and other requirements.
  • Promotes transit system, including planning, implementing, and evaluating community events and communication strategies that enhances the facilitation, integration, and coordination of transportation services. Develops and updates Ride Guide, route maps and schedules.
  • Monitors and administers transit system budget including revenues and expenses. Identifies grant opportunities and assists with developing grant applications for capital, planning, and operations funding.
  • Monitors transit system operations, performance, and equipment consistent with contract(s), federal and state regulations, and system goals and submits report on all findings to the City of Hinesville for monthly review.
  • Provides input into long range transportation needs, project recommendations, cost estimates, and priorities consistent with applicable regulatory requirements; Reviews bicycle, pedestrian, and ADA plans and recommends improvements in support of access to public transportation.

Knowledge required by the position is commonly associated with completion of a bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, logistics, transportation planning or specialized training in the field of work and three years’ experience is also required. The minimum starting salary is $65,218 plus an excellent benefits package.
