The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region’s success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information, and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.

 

The Mobility Services Department (MSD) has an immediate opening for an energetic, self-starting Communications and Marketing Analyst who will be responsible for supporting outreach and communications efforts of the department, specifically helping to maintain a positive image of the Georgia Commute Options (GCO) brand, and drive commuter and employer partner engagement.  Georgia Commute Options is a program aimed at helping the region’s employers and property managers develop commute options programs for employees and tenants that enable and encourage commuting by a transportation mode other than a single occupant vehicle trip, as well as, incentivizing behavior change in the region’s commuters to carpool, vanpool, transit, bike, walk and/or telework.

 

The Communications and Marketing Analyst will be responsible for providing communications counsel and support to MSD and GCO, along with other programs and projects as assigned. The selected candidate will serve as a liaison between the GCO outreach team and the MSD communications team.  As assigned, work may include social media amplification; building and sending email campaigns; designing and producing marketing collateral, including writing, editing, coordinating graphic design and production; designing website graphics, updating and managing website content; collecting analytics and preparing reports; writing copy; and planning and implementing promotions and outreach efforts, including community festivals and events.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Supports and executes strategic communications activities to support agency goals and  objectives;
  • Writes and edits across all GCO platforms, including website, blogs, social media channels, email campaigns, and e-newsletters;
  • Provides other communications support as assigned;
  • Provides support to various festivals and events;
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support agency goals and program objectives.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, meeting planning, or related field
  • One (1) year of experience with digital communications, media relations, traditional public relations, and/or community engagement

 

OR

 

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of AP writing style;
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public relations and communications;
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of marketing and digital marketing;
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of digital communication and media, including social media platforms and website content design;
  • Skill in gathering data, interpreting information, and applying logic and reason;
  • Skill in writing/editing press releases, articles, speeches, website content and other digital media content;
  • Skill in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction;
  • Ability to work effectively in team-based environments, which require high levels of initiative, autonomy and independent thought and action;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively work toward deadlines;
  • Ability to relay technical information in a non-technical way to a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details;
  • Possess exceptional written and oral communication skills;
  • Possess excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills;
  • Proficient in standard office equipment and MS Office suite.
