Purchasing Agent

Harris County, Georgia, population 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta, 30 minutes north of Columbus, and home to Callaway Resort and Gardens and FDR State Park, is accepting applications for a full-time Purchasing Agent. This non-exempt position is responsible for:

• purchasing goods and services for many county departments using various methods including verbal and written price quotes, state contracts, invitations to bid (ITB), requests for proposal (RFPs), and requests for qualifications (RFQs)
• works with departments in preparing detailed ITB, RFP, and RFQ documents
• conducts pre-bid and evaluation meetings and obtains post bid award documents
• monitors contract performance
• ensures compliance with established state procurement laws and local purchasing policies
• maintains vendor listings

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma, at least two years of related purchasing experience, knowledge of basic procurement procedures, computer skills, excellent customer service skills, possession of a valid driver’s licenses, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work.

Starting rate of pay is DOQ plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
