The City o Manchester currently has openings for the position of Police Officer. Georgia POST certified officers are preferred. Manchester is located 70 miles south of Atlanta and 35 miles north of Columbus, in the counties of Meriwether and Talbot, in west central Georgia. The Manchester Police Department serves a population of approximately 4000 residents and it's transients.
Job Summary:
Respond to calls for service or assistance, disturbance calls, and complaints of crimes, enforce state and local ordinances, felony or misdemeanor arrests;
Enforce traffic and parking laws through the issuance of citations and warnings;
Serve and execute criminal and traffic warrants on felony and misdemeanor suspects;
Perform business and residential security checks;
Investigate traffic accidents by interviewing witnesses, and collecting, preserving evidence; detect drunk drivers and perform sobriety evaluations; book DUI suspects;
Secure and protect crime scenes by establishing boundaries, detaining victims, suspects, and witnesses, locating and identifying evidence,
Serve as first‑responder to provide aid and assistance to victims of traffic and other accidents, assists fire and emergency medical services;
Give advice on laws, ordinances, and general information to the public; renders advice on domestic disturbances, assists citizens in need;
Maintain assigned uniform, vehicle, and equipment in accordance with departmental policy and procedures;
Present evidence and testimony in courts of law; assists in prosecuting felony and misdemeanor cases;
Assist stranded motorists, directs traffic when necessary; escorts special processions; transports prisoners to jail.
Participate in departmental training program;
Participate in community relation’s projects as required;
Perform related work as required.
Salary and Benefits:
Starting Annual Base Pay: $48,012.66
Merit Increase after completion of 12 month probation period.
