Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.  Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.  Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.  Provides education and counseling on practices to facilities and individuals. Coordinates with the Outreach Supervisor, SPOC and EPR to expedite vaccine screening, testing and administration in vulnerable/underserved populations. Provides a wide array of immunization activities, wellness checks, testing, coordination of events that requires travel as needed. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.

Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):

  • Qualified candidate must be capable of functioning independently and with groups, critical thinking skills are a must.
  • Identifies high risk populations and tailor interventions based on the needs of the population and the resources available.
  • Screens and refers clients to other community service providers.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND one year of PHN experience and completion of PHN course within one year of hire and a current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license and CPR certification.

                        

Preferred Qualifications: Public Health Nursing experience.  Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Georgia as well as skills in basic computer functions and communication. Community Health Nursing experience

 

Work Conditions & Physical Demands: Position does not require an excessive physical exertion but is not a sedentary position.  Requires lifting of less than 50 pounds of educational materials or supplies, walking through local facilities on site visits and desk work. 

 

Salary Information:   $35.00/ Hour / Up to 29 hrs./ week | No Benefits
