Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides a broad range of para-professional social services activities in the following pregnancy related programs: Perinatal Case Management (PCM), Babies Born Healthy (BBH), PE Pregnant Woman Medicaid (PEMD). Responsibilities include, but not limited to: screen clients for services, performs general clerical and administrative duties to support programs and office activities. Assist with case management services of prenatal clients. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.

External candidates: will be hired as an SST 1 OR SST 2; based on education and/or experience    

 

Internal candidates: are eligible for a lateral transfer as a SST 1 or SST 2; must be currently working in the same job code

 

SST 1 Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in a social service-related position OR Two years at an accredited college or university with at least 15 credit hours in social services-related field. $28,619 Annually/Pay Grade D

 

SST 2 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a social service-related field from an accredited college or university OR High school diploma or GED AND Two years of experience in a social service-related position OR One year of experience at the lower level Social Svcs Tech 1 (SST010) or position equivalent. $31,006 Annually/Pay Grade E

Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):

  • In the event of an emergency all Cobb & Douglas Public Health staff will be expected to perform duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Use excellent customer services skills when interacting with clients on the phone or in person. Make appropriate accommodations for clients as needed using the language line for translation, CDPH language list, and providing paperwork and handouts in client’s preferred language while respecting the clients cultural and religious beliefs. Will adhere to HIPAA policy at all times with regards to the clients’ medical and personal histories.

 

Preferred Job-Related Skills:   

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in social services field.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of the Medicaid application process
  • Experience in case managing pregnant women.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; maintains discretion and confidentiality, excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Mid to advance level MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook. Apply analytical skill and basic math knowledge to determine Medicaid eligibility.

 

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:

General office environment requires prolonged sitting, viewing computer monitor and manual data entry up to 7 hours a day. Light lifting approximately up to 10-15 pounds. Some travel required for trainings, meetings and conferences. Must have auto insurance for required travel.
