Purpose of the Position: Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.  Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations.  Cares for population with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.  Vaccine administration and management for all age groups, child health screenings for school entry, and lab services as indicated including phlebotomy and pregnancy testing.  Serve as back-up to Travel Clinic by assessing the need for malaria prophylaxis and follows protocol and CDC recommendations.  Counsel clients on other risks they may encounter when traveling.  This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties.

 

Essential functions (include but not limited to):

  • Function in a RN role in accordance with CDPH Nursing Protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Responsibilities include service provision for clients of all ages, infants through adults in a busy, walk-in public health setting
  • Participate in community vaccine projects that may include but are not limited to: vaccine provision, education, and school and daycare audits.

 

External candidates: will be hired as a RN 2

 

Internal candidates: are eligible for a lateral transfer as a RN 2 or RN 3; must be currently working in the same job code

 

RN 2 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification..   $58,284 Annually/Pay Grade L

 

RN 3 Minimum Qualifications - Internal Only: Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of nursing experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of nursing experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.  $65,243 Annually/Pay Grade M

Work Conditions & Physical Demands:  Position does not require an excessive physical exertion but is not a sedentary position.  Requires occasional lifting of less than 50 pounds, walking to/from workstation and other clinical areas, and assisting with positioning and restraint of infants and children during vaccination.  It does require flexibility of working in various areas of the clinic when necessary and some outreach.
