Job Summary:

This position is responsible for clerical and customer service assistance for Parks and Recreation department operations.

Major Duties:

  • Learn and utilize computer automated recreation software to register guests for programs, memberships, locker rentals, swim activities etc., as well as check ins for facility use. Will enter, retrieve, review, or modify data; verify accuracy and make needed corrections.
  • Answers telephone, provides assistance, greets visitors and members with excellent customer service and a welcoming attitude.
  • Must be comfortable accepting payments in various forms, performing basic accounting to balance cash register drawer and completing end of shift finance report. 
  • Provide information to the public regarding recreational programs, activities, events, schedules, fees, procedures, forms, and other issues.
  • Listens and responds in a professional, customer-oriented manner, to routine questions or complaints and initiates problem resolution as able. Refers complex issues/complaints to Supervisor.
  • May assist with Sporting events as needed.
  • Opens or closes facility depending on shift, which entails several different tasks; equipment storage, lights, turning in forms, powering on/off tablets, performing a walk through with close observation of locker rooms, bathrooms, gyms, ice room, pool area, fitness room, readying the front desk for business etc.
  • Prepares gymnasium for a variety of sports and events if needed.
  • Check restrooms for cleanliness throughout the day and stock if needed.
  • Assists to keep facilities clean and neat in all areas as observed.
  • Watches for any safety issues and notifies appropriate staff and supervisor of issue, immediately.
  • May perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Needs to have basic level comfort with use of technology such as tablets, computers, etc.
  • No experience required.

The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug Screenings prior to the start of employment.
