PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION

The purpose of this classification is to coordinate administrative activities to obtain and administer grant funding from state/federal agencies to support the courts and public safety in their programs and needs as related to potential grant funding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Ensures compliance with guidelines of granting agents and with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations.
  • Consults with  Public  Safety  Director,  Finance  Committee,  Board  of  Commissioners,  advisory  boards,  or other officials to review operations/activities, review/resolve  problems,  receive  advice/direction,  and provide recommendations; prepares subject summaries to inform Board of projects; presents grant-funded programs to county/city commissions; attends advisory board meetings in/out of county.
  • Serves as inter-governmental liaison between the county and state/federal agencies in relation to grant projects.
  • Coordinates grant-related activities with those of other county departments, county  officials,  outside  agencies, or  others  as  needed;  reports  availability  of  grant  funding  opportunities  to  department   heads   of   all Public  Safety  Units  and  Courts,  CFO,  Finance  Director,   County   Administrator,  subsidiary  organizations,   and County Commission; meets with department managers and county officials to discuss funding issues and programs; coordinates correspondence and meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Finance, or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training that includes grant administration/coordination, grant writing, governmental accounting, budgeting, organizational planning, research, and personal computer operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
