CLASSIFICATION TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT ACCG SUMMER 2024 INTERN
This is an ACCG Student Internship Program position. The work schedule for this position is a maximum of 200 hours for the entire internship. The Internship will start on May 1, 2024, and end on September 1, 2024.
Summary: The Communications Department Intern will assist the department with online media communication and presence. The intern will assist in being able to inform the community through various social media platforms about all SPLOST and ARPA funded projects in addition to posting other relevant information on the County’s website.
Essential Functions:
- Create and update social media posting schedules, reply to comments from subscribers or liking tagged photos.
- Follow conversations on the internet while interacting with the public at the same time.
- Monitor trending hashtags and topics while finding unique ways to integrate them into the brand of the organization.
- Collaborate with other staff members and departments to create and implement a social media content strategy.
- Utilize of following social channels: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Utilize Next Door as an Agency for public announcements.
- Draft news releases for media distribution covering various topics including Hirings, Ordinances, Emergency operations, Scheduled Meetings, Community Partnerships, Departmental Programs.
- Create and manage graphic design projects for collateral, social media, website, or other needs.
- Compiling media analytics for agency-used platforms.
- Updating and maintaining social media page, stock photo/image files.
- Performing administrative duties. Other related duties assigned by the Communications Director.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates (Graduated within six months of the start date of the internship May 1st, 2023.), in the Public Relations, Communication, Information Technology, or Journalism field.
- 3.0 GPA or higher.
- Excellent understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- Comfortable with public speaking and engaging with customers. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Good research and analytical skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload and keep to strict deadlines.
- Willingness to attend corporate events after hours and on weekends.
Special Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. The intern will be required to have some knowledge of databases, spreadsheets, and word processing applications.
