The City of Stockbridge has a job opportunity for a Conference Center Events Manager.  This position is responsible for managing, supervising, and coordinating events at the Merle Manders Conference Center and all city-sponsored events.    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the marketing and booking of the Merle Manders Conference Center, including pricing of the center for events and rental rates, to meet annual revenue projections.
  • Plans, implements, and monitors City-sponsored and sanctioned programs and events for contractual obligations and quality customer service at the facility.
  • Prepares and reviews event programming to confirm all services and necessary preparations are addressed.
  • Supervises, directs, and coordinates the activities of event personnel, subcontractors and vendors as required to successfully execute assigned programming.
  • Coordinates client service deliverables with catering, audio-visual, security and other contracted service vendors.
  • Supervises, monitors, and controls event billing per contracts.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements technical and operational procedures and systems to achieve improved economy and efficiency.
  • Manage the maintenance of financial records, including revenue and fees generated by programs, program operational costs, facility revenue and expense schedules, budget projections, and analyses.
  • Prepares and monitors compliance with the facility budget.
  • Coordinates activities with city staff and officials, city departments, and community groups and other agencies arranging resource and facility schedules.
  • Attends networking events to promote the facility.
  • Coordinates the annual planning and implementation of all city Events and other special events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in cultural and/or leisure studies, marketing and/or promotions, facilities management, hospitality management or a closely related field supplemented by five (5) to eight (8) years of event planning, marketing/sales, promotion experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job; ability to utilize computerized software; Excellent communication skills with a valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.
