Visitor Services Specialist (Part-Time)

Peachtree City is seeking a customer service enthusi professional to join our Convention and Visitors Bureau team! This position provides customer service to all individuals who contact or visit the CVB Visitor Center, while adding support to the marketing and services of the CVB operations. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS                
 

  • Assists all walk-in visitors and visitor inquiry telephone calls and emails promptly and informatively.  
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Peachtree City’s accommodations, recreation areas, attractions, events, weather conditions, and general local information.      
  • Ensures that visitor information publications are well stocked in the lobby, outside the lobby, and on display tables; disposes of outdated materials.
  • Assists in maintaining and updating the hotel, event, and attractions information within the CVBs shared drive and CMS.
  • Provides support in the marketing and servicing needs of the CVB, as needed.
  • Provides working support for the CVBs sponsored events throughout the year.
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the CVB Executive Director.

                 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of City and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Skill in the provision of customer service.
  • Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in performing routine clerical tasks.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Ability to handle routine problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a workplace of dignity and respect.

 

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The CVB Executive Director assigns work in terms of general instructions.  The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

Guidelines include City and departmental policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application. 

 

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

  • The work consists of related customer service duties.  Frequent interruptions contribute to the complexity of the position.
  • This position provides customer service to all individuals who contact or visit the CVB Visitor Center, while adding support to the marketing and services of the CVB operations.
  • Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations. 

 

CONTACTS                                                

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other City employees, and members of the general public.
  • Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

 

            None.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
