The City of Johns Creek is seeking a dedicated and experienced Planner II to join our Community Development Department. The Planner II plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with state planning laws, the City's Comprehensive Plan, the Zoning Ordinance, and other local ordinances. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, interacting with diverse stakeholders and contributing to the city's growth and development.

In this role, you will:

• Be a first point of contact for planning and zoning inquiries.
• Review and analyze development applications for compliance with zoning regulations.
• Prepare informative reports and presentations for diverse audiences, including the Board of Zoning Appeals and Planning Commission.
• Work collaboratively with the development community to ensure projects meet city standards.
• Conduct research and analyze data to inform planning decisions.
• Contribute to the maintenance and update of the City's Comprehensive Plan and zoning code.

 

Qualifications: Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in City Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in planning and zoning.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
• Solid understanding of planning principles, zoning regulations, and land use theory.
• Valid Georgia driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Urban Design/ Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Experience with urban design/planning software ( InDesign, Sketch Up, GeoDesign, etc.).
