CITY MANAGER

CITY OF ALBANY, GEORGIA

The City of Albany, Georgia seeks applications for the position of City Manager.

The City Manager reports to the Albany City Commission, which consists of the mayor and six Commission members. The City Manager provides leadership for the General Fund and extensive Enterprise operations, which are governed by the Albany Utility Board. The city has a total budget of $317 million, including $158 million in Enterprise funds, and serves the community with 1171 employees.

Albany, located in SW Georgia has a population of 70,000. The city serves as the county seat for Dougherty County and hosts two excellent public institutions of higher learning, Albany State University and Albany Technical College. The city boasts a premier healthcare system and an aggressive economic development package.

The successful candidate must have seven years of progressive experience in local government management including extensive project management experience. In addition, the successful candidate will present strong leadership and communication skills (both oral and written), a capacity to work in the political environment, financial management ability (including trend assessment and forecasting), a working knowledge of financial statements, and experience working with state and federal regulatory bodies. An ability to interact productively with regional partners is also required. Excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for customer service are essential. Enterprise fund experience is preferred, including electric, natural gas, telecommunications, airport and public transport. The salary range for this position is $225,000 to $275,000.
