JOB TITLE: Main Street Director
SUPERVISOR: Mayor
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time (Exempt/Salaried)
SALARY GRADE: 25D
RATE: $49,828.70-$67,014.06
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate revitalization efforts throughout the City of Buena Vista, utilizing the National Main Street program strategies. The director is also responsible for economic development, website management, social media updates, special events, Josh Gibson Center management and overseeing various grants.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-Assists with the development and implementation of strategies to attract businesses to the City
-Implements marketing strategies that will encourage business development/retain existing businesses
-Builds strong relationships with local businesses
-Coordinates city wide events
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
-Ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels of staff, management, and general public
-Must have strong organizational and time management skills
-Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
-Ability to give presentations to groups for informational purposes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
-Bachelor’s Degree related to economic development or equivalent education required
-Three to five years of professional experience in Economic Development field
-Experience with the National Main Street Program desired
Experience
-Knowledge of National Main Street Program principles and goals
-Knowledge of general business principles
-Knowledge of economic development and business retention/recruitment
Physical/Mental Demands
-Duties are performed primarily in an office setting with prolonged periods of sitting
-Position will require occasional travel while coordinating events
