Position: Utilities Operator

The City of Emerson is currently accepting applications for a full-time Utilities Operator. This role involves the general operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater system and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor plant performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain compliance with NPDES permits.
  • Perform various tests and record results to ensure compliance with NPDES permits.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of plant equipment and other associated duties.
  • Operate various hand and power tools.
  • Engage in general maintenance, repair, and construction tasks.
  • Apply knowledge of construction materials, procedures, tools, equipment, and safety precautions.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Work independently and perform physical tasks including bending, stooping, walking on uneven terrain, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Work outdoors in various climates including heat, cold, rain, and snow.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • State of Georgia Class 3 Wastewater Certification.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Compensation:

  • Starting salary: $25.00 - $36.00 per hour (dependent upon experience).
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, health reimbursement account, dental and vision insurance, disability insurance, cancer plan, accident plan, critical illness plan, flexible spending account, life insurance, paid time off, defined benefit retirement plan, and 457b plan.
