Listing Summary

Turner County Board of Commissioners is seeking a full-time Zoning Administrator/Building Inspector.   This position is responsible for administering the county’s building and zoning ordinance.

Major Duties:

• Attends zoning meetings and hearings.
• Prepares legally required advertisements.
• Issues construction, building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC permits.
• Inspects construction for compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.
• Issues permits for the moving of manufactured homes.
• Assists in the issuance of 911 addresses.
• Assists in issuing and enforcing business licenses.
• Reviews land disturbance plans and forwards to state officials.
• Attends required training.
• Serves as county safety officer; coordinates and implements safety meetings; inspects work environments for violations; makes reports; investigates incidents and accidents.
• Performs related duties.

 

Knowledge Required by the position:

 

• Knowledge of building inspection principles and practices.
• Knowledge of zoning enforcement principles.
• Knowledge of relevant state and federal codes and regulations.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
• Skill in oral and written communication.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, knowledge of how to prepare a budget, knowledge of state and federal zoning ordinances, Turner County Zoning Ordinances and must have a valid GA Driver’s License.
