POSITION SUMMARY 

The essential function of this position is to provide organizational and administrative support to effectively manage constituent concerns for the City Council of the City of Stonecrest. The Constituent Services Representative is also responsible for exploring potential opportunities to engage citizens within the 5 City Council districts as directed by the respective City Councilmember. This position acts as a liaison to city departments and the constituents.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Acts as a representative for the City Council.
  • Informs the City Council of happenings that may affect the constituents of each council district.
  • Submits monthly reports concerning constituent issues.
  • Manages assignments/correspondence.
  • Acts as liaison to City departments and other persons or groups to form effective relationships for the City Council.
  • Coordinates district meetings and/or events for the City Council with constituents and stakeholders.
  • Assists with meeting preparation for Work Sessions and Council Meetings and helps prepare items for the agenda that require legislative action.
  • Conducts legislative research in response to City Council agenda items and/or to constituent questions and concerns.
  • Screens and refers constituent issues, when appropriate, to other City departments.
  • Processes incoming mail and phone calls for the City Council.
  • Meets attendance requirements.
  • May attend Work Sessions, Council Meetings, staff, committee and other professional meetings as a representative of the City Council.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with the Mayor, City Council, staff, and constituents.
  • Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends (when needed).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of formal education or professional experience AND at least three (3) years of experience performing administrative & research support duties in a local government and/or structured business environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Principles and practices of public administration and municipal government.
  • Administrative research methods, techniques, and methods of report presentations.
  • Municipal organization and functions of government.
  • Laws and regulations of the City.
  • City programs, problems, and resources available to resolve municipal problems.
  • Conduct research and sound administrative analyses relating to policy and management problems.
  • Communicate orally in the English language with customers, clients, and the public, in face-to-face, one-to-one settings, group settings, or using a telephone.
  • Strong customer-service, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work quickly under pressure.
  • Passion for Public Service.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

May work an adjusted schedule for assisting in events occurring after 5:00 p.m. such as meetings, or planned events.
