Equipment Operator I/Mower Operator for Public Works

Harris County, Georgia, with a population of 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus, is accepting applications for a full-time Equipment Operator I/Mower Operator 1 to work Monday thru Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position operates grounds maintenance equipment in the maintenance of rights-of-ways.

HSD or GED; knowledge of right-of-way maintenance, repair, and security principles; operation of mowers and use and hand and power tools; possess and maintain valid driver's license; must possess State of Georgia Correctional Officer I Certification at minimum security level (to supervise and work with inmates) or obtain same at first opportunity class is offered after hire date.

The starting wage is $17.69 per hour, plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
