POSITION SUMMARY     

The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for managing and implementing programs and initiatives to promote the City of Stonecrest and engage with the community and its stakeholders.  This position will report to the Parks and Recreation Director and work closely with the Parks and Recreation team to deliver a consistent and long-term engagement with the community. This position will support and develop strategic communication plans that reflect the mission of the City of Stonecrest.  As part of the team, this role will assist in guiding internal and external communications outreach efforts. This role performs essential writing, editing, and social media duties that deliver measurable outcomes.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Identify content placement of materials to maximize exposure.
  • Creates and maintains a network of media, community partners, employees, and area stakeholders.
  • Staff and engages with residents, business leaders and City stakeholders during City events or at other functions as assigned. 
  • Creates opportunities for community input and engagement
  • Develops communication materials, marketing campaigns and strategies to promote community initiatives
  • Maintains departmental files in accordance with records retention policies
  • Assists in the production and distribution of communications materials, such as emails, newsletters, websites, handbooks, brochures, and other publications.
  • Maintains website and social media content as directed
  • Responds to media inquiries
  • Provides support to the department during press conferences, special events and other activities
  • Takes photographs during events to support a social media marketing plan
  • Consults with others on complex problem situations and provides technical expertise.
  • Provides progress and activity reports to senior management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Arts or Marketing or related field.  Two to five years of professional level work experience in creating internal and/or external communications, community relations and individual deliverables.  Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

May work an adjusted schedule for assisting in events occurring after 5:00 p.m. such as meetings, or planned events.
