Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee for Water Works Filter Plant
Harris County, Georgia, population 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta, 30 minutes north of Columbus, and home to Callaway Resort and Gardens and FDR State Park, is accepting applications for a full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee for the Water Works Filter Plant.
The purpose of this position is to learn how to obtain a Class III Water Plant Operator License and how to operate the water treatment plant and distribution system. Success in this position contributes to an understanding of the position and the ability to obtain the required licensure.
HSD or GED; ability to pass Georgia Class III Water Operator Certification Test at first opportunity test is offered after hire date (after which salary would increase); possess and maintain valid drivers license; and ability to lift at least 50 pounds and to work with chemicals. Responsibilities, following training, will include operation of water treatment plant, monitoring of water quality and conducting related lab tests, performing various facility and equipment maintenance duties to ensure the water treatment system complies with federal and state regulations. Job qualifications are as specified, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the specific job.
The starting $15.49 per hour, with an increase to $18.22 when Class III certification is obtained. Generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
