Water Distribution Operator for Water Works
Harris County, Georgia, population 36,000 and located in west central Georgia along the Alabama border 60 minutes southwest of Atlanta, 30 minutes north of Columbus, and home to Callaway Resort and Gardens and FDR State Park, is accepting applications for a Water Distribution Operator for the Water Works Department.
This is a full-time position, and the purpose of this position is to keep water accessible for county residents, to keep employees safe during repairs, and to keep costs down while running efficiently.
HSD or GED; three years’ experience; ability to pass appropriate state-certified license for water or wastewater treatment or distribution as appropriate; possess and maintain valid driver’s license; ability to operate back-hoe and similar equipment. Responsible for maintenance & repair on pump stations, install & repair water main, perform filter plans maintenance & repair, install water services, locate water mains, install, repair & maintain fire hydrants, operate trench equipment; operate dump truck, and water loss reports. Knowledge of hydraulics, pump stations, pressure valves, computers & related software.
The starting $20.59, plus generous benefits including a five-year vesting schedule for retirement.
